Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is located in the middle of the Indy 500 racetrack. Tours are available every day and there are special tours to take a lap around the track! Inside the museum are automobiles and racing artifacts from Indy500, Nascar, Formula One, etc. If you're over on this side of town, I recommend Charlie Brown's Pancake & Steak House for breakfast!
Canal Walk
We walk on the canal almost every day (rain or shine!). We also like to set up our hammocks nearby. The Canal has paddle boats (or even Gondala rides if you're fancy). The Canal Walk passes the Indiana State Museum, the Eiteljorg Museum, and Indiana Historical Society. At the end of the canal is the White River State Park and the Indianapolis Zoo.
Newfields
The Indianapolis Museum of Art is an art museum located at Newfields, a 152-acre nature campus that also houses Lilly House, The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park, The Gardens at Newfields, the Beer Garden, and more.
Fountain Square
Fountain Square is a quirky, historic neighborhood with a vintage duckpin bowling alley, restaurants, and lots of unique shops. Also, this is the neighborhood that Good Bones from HGTV renovates!
Taxman CityWay
Taxman brewery is a favorite in Indiana! Their new location in downtown Indianapolis is in an 1850s renovated livery building. Go visit their Gastropub and Beer Garden in downtown Indianapolis! You won't regret it!
Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery
Hotel Tango is our favorite location for cocktails, whiskey, bourbon, and other spirits! Located right near Fountain Square, it is a must stop destination!
Ellison Brewing Co
Ellison Brewing Co. started in Lansing, Michigan and has opened its first location outside of the state in Indianapolis this year. The food and drinks are delicious!
18th Street Brewery Indy Taproom
Voted best brewpub in the country by USA Today! 18th Street Brewery's original location is in Hammond, Indiana. People have been eagerly awaiting the opening of their new location in Indianapolis on 10th street (confusing, right?). Go check it out!
Metazoa Brewing Company
One of our favorite breweries. We come here often for trivia or to look at dogs. Metazoa has a small dog park and my favorite food truck in the back called Old Gold Barbecue!
Half Liter BBQ & Beer Hall
In the front of this restaurant is Liter House, a German restaurant w/ German beer. In the back is Half Liter, a delicious BBQ place that also serves the same beer. Nice outdoor seating and right by the Monon Walking Trail.
Upland Brewery
Upland Brewing Co. is a Bloomington, IN staple. Go get a bite to eat and grab a drink at their new Fountain Square location.
Sun King Brewery
An Indianapolis classic! Large selection and taproom.
St. Joseph Brewery
St. Joseph Brewery is usually where I bring people to eat when they visit me in Indianapolis. It is absolutely one of my favorite places! The building was originally an old Catholic Parish built in 1873. If you do not have a chance to stop by, don't worry! Our reception is at their event center (another building previously owned by the church) and is being catered by the same chef! We will also have several beers on tap!
The Rathskeller
The oldest restaurant in Indianapolis that is still in operation today! A German restaurant with lots of fun events and a great Biergarten.
