Hannah and James met just before freshman year at Huntington University at a campus event. The two clicked and became best friends almost instantly - "almost as if we've known each other our entire lives," Hannah says. James agrees. They developed a special friendship through study nights filled with lots of laughs, frequent hang outs and long conversations. Although they went their separate ways more than once, God had bigger plans and brought them back into each other's lives again and again.
While some say will they saw it coming, it took these two oblivious souls about four years and a couple thousand miles of distance between them to realize that they wanted to be more than friends. James promptly moved back home to Indiana after six months in Los Angeles - not to be dramatic or anything - and on February 26, 2019 Hannah and James started dating.
Nearly six years from the day they met - and after one-and-a-half years of doing life together as a couple - James decorated a pavilion at Elmwood Park in Huntington with flowers and pictures of the two over the years and planned a surprise proposal on Hannah's 25th birthday with the help of some close friends. After some slow dancing and a short serenade featuring "jingle bells" (at Hannah's request) James got down on one knee and asked Hannah to marry him. Hannah, thankfully, responded with an enthusiastic "yes!" They celebrated the special day with a few close family members. Hannah and James are so excited to celebrate with the rest of their family and friends in April!
