The venue is a hotel! You are more than welcome to stay at the venue (Villa Tolomei). However, the venue is only one mile away from the city of Florence if you’d like to stay elsewhere. Some hotels that are recommended are Palazzo Guadagni, Villa Nardi & Villa Gardi
You can fly right into Florence if you wish, however there is not a direct flight. You will most likely have to stop in Amsterdam. There is a direct flight from Detroit to Rome which is nice! If you fly into Rome, you then can take a train ride from to Rome to Florence. The train ride is less than two hours.
We will be having a celebration in Michigan before we go to Italy! This will be in June, and we will be sending out invitations early spring.
For the most part the easiest way to get around the city would be taxing or walking. Ubers are not as reliable as they are in the US, and taxis are reasonably priced and very easy! The hotel can call you a taxi and there are taxi stands around the whole city.
I would make sure your passport is ready to go, or you’ve ordered a new one by early 2025. Your passport needs to be within 6 months of its expiration date for it to be good for your flight in July.
Formal attire. I would recommend anything light and comfortable. Florence is very hot during this time of year. Please do not wear jeans or shorts to the wedding.
Charging adapters, Europe has different outlets than us so you’ll want to purchase adapters for your electronics. I have linked some here from Amazon - https://a.co/d/82UKcAF - Call your phone company and credit card company head of time. Figure out phone plans if you’d like to use your phone without WiFi. Your bank and CC company will fold purchases if they don’t know you’re out of the US. - Take a photo copy of your passport and keep it with you safe
