Girdwood is a small ski resort town with amazing hiking, restaurants and our favorite brewery- Girdwood Brewery! It is only a 45 minute drive to anchorage, which is a plus! You can hike up to the top of Mt. Alyeska (approx 2000 vertical feet), get a beer and food at the top and then ride the tram down. There is mountain bike rentals at Alyeska as well. Winner Creek trail is a nice 6 mile hike near Alyeska Resort. Recommendations for lodging: Alyeska Resort Ski Inn- Small B&B located in town. We have stayed here multiple times and love it! Airbnb
Seward is a small port town that has plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance of each other. Seward Brewery has good food and beer. Exit Glacier is an easy 2 mile hike up to a glacier. Caines Head Trail is a harder and longer hike located at Lowell Point. If whale watching is something your interested in doing, Kenai Fjords has fun tours! In September there will be fishing charters available for Silver Salmon, Lingcod, Halibut, and Rockfish. The Alaska Railroad is a great, quick way to see a majority of the state. Tallest peak in North American, enough said. 4 hour drive from anchorage. On a clear day you can see Denali from Talkeetna, which is only a 2 hours from anchorage
Homer is the closest town to our venue, it is about 30 minutes away. Homer is the Halibut capital of the world! You can take fishing charters for halibut, lingcod, rockfish, early winter kings. If you arent into fishing you can take water taxi across Kachemak and sight see or hike. The Homer Spit has the Salty Dog bar, restaurants, and shops. The Lands Ends Resort is located at the end of the Spit. Bear Creek Winery is in town and makes their own berry wine.
