It all started with a question, literally. Mehmedalija requested me on Instagram and sent a direct message that simply said, “question?” I replied, “answer.” Little did we know that such a small exchange would lead us here, together forever. After countless phone calls, FaceTimes, and text messages, we knew we had to meet. Three months later, Mehmedalija came to Dallas. I was incredibly nervous, but the moment I saw him waiting at baggage claim, I ran straight to him. In that instant, I knew he was my future husband. A few days later, while spending time together, we visited Reunion Tower. As the sun set over the Dallas skyline, Mehmedalija turned to me and said, “question?” I answered, “answer?” and he asked me to be his girlfriend. Soon after, we both began our graduate school journeys. Mehmedalija started his physician assistant program, and I began my master’s program in criminal justice. Balancing long distance, school, and life was not always easy, but no matter the challenges we faced, our love never wavered. We learned how to grow individually while always choosing each other. A year and a half later, Mehmedalija returned to Dallas once again. During a visit to Flippen Park in Highland Park Village, he got down on one knee and asked me, “question?” This time, my answer was an enthusiastic “YES!” We are beyond excited to celebrate our marriage and begin this next chapter together.
