The Story of Butter and Toast

Butter + Toast are our self-given nicknames after taking a photo in front of a mural in Austin, TX that said "You're my butter half" (see photo below)

We met as many millennials are nowadays...on the dating app Hinge! Hanna made the first move, messaging Elorm. Little did she know, that Elorm did not yet even live in New York, he was only in town for a job interview. After a few weeks of texting, Elorm was moving to NYC and he and Hanna had their first date. Since Elorm didn't know many places to go in Manhattan, he had Hanna pick the dinner spot for their first date. Hanna, loving Mexican food, suggested Mad Dog and Beans in the Financial District. It didn't even cross her mind that choosing Mexican food in NYC would be a faux pas for the Texan she was meeting. Though it was a super hot and humid evening, the date went great and they ended the night with drinks at Pier A overlooking the Hudson River and Statue of Liberty. Elorm said it was going to rain, but Hanna didn't believe him...it down-poured and we didn't have umbrellas. We became inseparable and had tons of fun adventures in NYC before surviving a year of long distance before ending up back together in Chicago. Elorm's proposal was a complete surprise to Hanna, who thought she was meeting a friend (Stephanie) for brunch. When she went out to take pictures on the balcony of Cindy's Rooftop, Elorm completely surprised her (Hanna thought he was in Boston at his brother Dela's). Hanna's brother Chad was there too, and then we all headed to Michigan to celebrate Easter weekend. We're so excited for our future together and look forward to celebrating our wedding day with you!

COVID-19 Update

Howdy family and friends, We are looking forward to our new wedding date, May 15, 2021! Currently, we are planning on having our wedding with whatever restrictions are in place, which means our vision of a large wedding has been reimagined for safety during the ongoing pandemic, and to comply with local Chicago regulations. As of March 14, we are only able to celebrate with 50 guests (instead of our original 220!). As the date nears, if Chicago restrictions shift, we will be sending out new invitations. For those unable to celebrate in person, we will keep you posted on the potential for a virtual celebration. Please reach out directly with any questions and thank you for your love, patience and understanding given the less-than-ideal circumstances. With love, Hanna and Elorm
