We met while we were both working at Price Chopper nearly ten years ago. At the time, Terry was the Dairy Manager and I was the PAC (Price Accuracy Coordinator) Back-Up. We both worked different hours, so we would occasionally see each other from time to time. In 2012, I left price chopper to pursue my career in special education and thought I would never see him again...
4 years later, we both were invited to our mutual friend, Sarah Grace’s birthday party in October at The Grill. Eventually we would reconnect when I asked him to go to a basketball game at Madison Square Garden on December 6, 2016. Duke VS. Florida. Of course, to annoy me, Terry wore an orange shirt and a blue sweatshirt (Florida colors). DUKE won and to say that I didn't annoy Terry about Duke winning the entire trip home would be an understatement. After the game, we would continue to text each other for hours. Eventually, on December 16, Terry and I went to the movies to see Hacksaw Ridge. That weekend was my 25th birthday so Terry, Sarah and myself decided to go see Impractical Jokers in Albany, NY. Two days later, Terry would ask me out to dinner by his house in Scranton, Pa. FUN FACT: The venue we're getting married, Clemson Bros. Brewery, used to be known as Clemson Bros Inc. in the 1800's. During that time, the Clemson family became the pioneer of hacksaw blades (the first movie we saw together was Hacksaw Ridge). When we were looking into venues, we asked about what the place was used in the past. After we heard what the building was used for, we instantly knew that this was where we should get married.
Terry met me at the Viewmont Mall where he would then take me to Alfredo’s Pizza Cafe in Scranton, PA. Otherwise referred to as the “good pizza place” from The Office. It would be there, in the corner booth, where Terry would ask me to be his girlfriend. With an awkward response, I smiled, said “yes” and shook his hand across the table (so awkward, I know... but definitely a funny piece to our story). Afterwards, he would take me to the “Look Out” where we would have our first kiss to Billy Joel’s “This is the Time”. (I secretly think Terry planned that one out). As we were leaving and going down the hill, Terry’s car died and we had to pull into the Dunkin Donuts. At this time, we’re both hysterically laughing. Eventually, I would make it back to my car and we would continue to text each other until 3 am.
Since then, we would travel to New York City, see numerous New York Yankee games, go to Wisconsin to see the Packers play the Lions on Monday Night Football. Unfortunately, the Packers lost. Next, we would travel to Chicago to see the Cubs VS. the Yankees. For Terry’s 30th Birthday, I took him to Boston to see the rivals; Boston Red Sox VS. New York Yankees. Together we would move into our first house together In Milford, PA. There, we would have one beautiful crazy dog, Payton, and one lazy cat, Zoey. Later, we would add another kitty to the chaos and Terry would decide to call her Guinness! Eventually, we moved to Port Jervis, NY in 2019.
For four days during my Summer Break in 2019, Terry decided to take me to Point Pleasant, NJ. We arrived on Wednesday and enjoyed a beautiful roof top dinner overlooking the ocean. On Thursday, we would sit on the beach enjoying the sun and each other’s company. (This is also the day Terry would find out he got a promotion as Co Manager at his job!). We stuffed our faces at the local lobster house to celebrate Terry’s new job. As we were walking towards the boardwalk to get ready for the weekly fireworks on the beach, I mentioned that this would be a beautiful day to get engaged since there’s fireworks going off later tonight. (Not knowing that he had the ring in his pocket planning to do so that evening). Once we put down our chairs for the fireworks, Terry suggested that we go for a walk on the beach. During the walk, I noticed that Terry had one hand in his pocket and I said “why do you have your hand in your pocket like a weirdo?” (his hand was half way in, so you see why that's weird). He then took out his hand and realized that his phone was in his pocket. We walked a couple more feet and Terry said “ do you wanna make a good day great?”. He would then begin to kneel and take the ring out of his pocket and before he could completely get down on one knee and say “Stephanie Lynn Fischer”, I quickly shouted “oh my god, oh my god, you don’t need to get down on one knee, yes, yes, yes!).
2020, a year like no other. Not only was there a world wide pandemic, but it was also the year we officially said “I do” in an intimate ceremony in our back yard. Although, our first wedding was small, we can’t wait to celebrate our love with you all this year on our one year wedding anniversary!
