Two hearts united in the Cardiovascular ICU. Ha! But really! Michael caught my eye immediately. We worked closely together during his rotation in the CVICU. He was very attentive, sweet, and caring, but also very serious. He was definitely hard to read at first, but after I saw him laugh for the first time I was intrigued and wanted to see that side of him more often. Our first date was an all day event, which included brunch at the Famous Toastery, a stroll through the Asheboro Zoo, followed by dinner at Milners. We just couldn't get enough of each other and the rest is history!
Can a proposal get any more romantic than the Trevi Fountain in Rome? I may be biased, but I don't think so! Michael and I went to Italy, for what my intentions were, to celebrate him finishing his residency. Michael, on the other hand, had different intentions. On our first day in Italy, we explored the beautiful city of Rome. On our second day in Rome, we woke up early and walked from our hotel to the Trevi Fountain. Walking around Rome is so incredible because you just stumble across beautiful architecture and are surrounded by so much history. I was speechless when we arrived at the Trevi Fountain! The fountain will take your breath away with its beauty. The fountain was very crowded but we made our way to a seat in front of it. After we both tossed our coins in and made a wish, Michael got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him? Of course I said "Yes!" That was the easiest question I've ever had to answer! After the proposal, we had a nice lunch at That's Amore, which I thought was fitting! This was just the beginning of our trip, so we enjoyed the rest of our vacation exploring many different cities in Italy while celebrating our engagement!
