Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is one of the oldest and largest planetariums in the United States and was initially opened in 1949 to train Gemini and Apollo program astronauts in celestial navigation. The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center now educates thousands each year in exhibits and shows at their state-of-the-art multimedia shows. The Ackland Art Museum is a museum and academic unit of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded through the bequest of William Hayes Ackland to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. View exhibits from all different eras of art and limited collections on loan to the University. Admission is FREE for everyone.
