Morehead Planetarium and Science Center
Morehead Planetarium and Science Center is located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It is one of the oldest and largest planetariums in the United States and was initially opened in 1949 to train Gemini and Apollo program astronauts in celestial navigation. The Morehead Planetarium and Science Center now educates thousands each year in exhibits and shows at their state-of-the-art multimedia shows. Lean back, relax, and check out the stars, atmosphere, and space.
Ackland Art Museum
The Ackland Art Museum is a museum and academic unit of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was founded through the bequest of William Hayes Ackland to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. View exhibits from all different eras of art and limited collections on loan to the University. Admission is FREE for everyone.
Fridays at the Front Porch
If you're looking for a classic Chapel Hill evening before the wedding-- look no further! The Carolina Inn sponsors a bluegrass concert every Friday in summer from 5-7 pm on their front lawn. No tickets required. They sell beer, wine, and BBQ. Bring a blanket and sit on the lawn behind the barefoot dancing children, or stand under the columns of the historic front porch and enjoy the musical pastime of our great state!
