Dave and Courtney still debate whether it was the year 1999 or 2000- but either way these two met in high school having mutual friends in South County. Always saying hi to each other- or exchanging a high five here or there- they would find themselves bumping into each other for the next 2 decades on the beach or around town. Fast forward to Fall of 2018- Dave asked Courtney to go for a hike to catch up. On November 11th (11.11) the hike happened where Dave officially asked Courtney if she would go to dinner with him once and for all. In true Courtney fashion she obviously said "No." After a few seconds of a very uncomfortable silence, where he gasped for air; Courtney then said: "ok well...I will think about it." Turns out, Courtney accepted the invitation weeks later! They quickly became inseparable and continued to spend a lot of time together. Courtney was at Dave's parents house for Christmas Eve, where she met Mr. and Mrs. Cannon- and Dave then met and spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Handrigan and all of her extended family- their love then blossomed. As the months passed it was clear there was something special happening.
Saturday November 2, 2019 Danny and Ashlee Beyar and their son Daniel came to visit Courtney and Dave for the weekend. Unbeknownst to Courtney, Ashlee, Danny, Daniel... and Dave this would be the magic weekend where it would all go down. A little back story to help fill in some gaps. Dave had already had the perfect gem made for his girl for quite a while, and had already had the covo with Mr. Handrigan (he had a chainsaw in his hands as Dave approached to ask his daughters hand in marriage) This is not even remotely a joke! Back to the weekend of weekends. Saturday night Ashlee, Courtney and Daniel stayed in hanging out at the house while Dave and Danny went down to the local brewery to have some beers. Courtney’s sister Casey and fiance Joe soon met them. This was as good a time as ever to plan the much anticipated proposal! It was determined after filling eveyone in that Casey would now coordinate with her mom and Mrs. Cannon to surprise Courtney after she would hopefully say yes! So all she had to do was say yes!! Sunday morning November 3, 2019 Oscar winners Danny and Ashlee stone cold lied to Courtney's face as they told her they had to leave early to get back to NY. Dave then suggested going for a walk to get some fresh air, and drove her down to Camp Cronin on this perfect fall Day. As they walked the shoreline Dave knew now was the time. This is an account of the next 30 seconds: Dave- Will you marry me? Courtney- Oh my God is this real life? Dave- Yes. Courtney- (Covers her ears). Dave- Did you hear me? Courtney- (Still covering ears). Dave- Please say something. Courtney- (Ears still covered) Dave- My knee hurts/ these are rocks. Courtney- OMG YES YES YES! They drove back to Winter street to regroup. Upon arrival, they were surprised by everyone (including the Beyar's... true thespians). The couple celebrated their engagement with loved ones throughout the day, and cannot wait to celebrate their wedding day with everyone May 15th.
We wanted to thank everyone for standing by us through this difficult time!! We are so excited to see everyone and have the night that we always dreamed/envisioned for our wedding. Get those dancing shoes ready because we are going to PARTY!!!!!!!
