Carl met Hana once before as a "friend of a friend". He didn't think much of the interaction, but Hana knew he was something special. Their reconnection was a thing of miracles as Hana attended a friend of a friend's birthday (last minute) at the same venue that Carl was attending a different friend of a friend's party. Neither was supposed to be there, but both had the time of their lives. They danced until the venue closed, and at the end of the night, Carl bribed Hana for her phone number with promised pictures of his puppy Bodie. Hana was skeptical but, sure enough, the next day brought a picture of the sleepy puppy (see pic in gallery!). The two were pretty much inseparable from that point on. Hana frequently got in trouble with her roommate at the time (her sister) for sneaking out to see him. They weren't able to be separated by long distance, medical school, or law school. After living together for 2 years, Hana finally let Carl pop the question. He took her to the sweetest sushi dinner (were Hana was oblivious to the fact that every roll he ordered had a romantic name) and he dropped to his knee in front of their home lake by the moonlight and asked her to marry him. The rest is history!
