Our love story started back in 2017 while we both attended Penn State. We met junior year as volunteers for Penn State’s THON. Paige was blindly handed Derek’s application to be a volunteer on her THON committee and interviewed Derek. What started as a friendship blossomed into a relationship when Derek finally mustered up the courage to tell Paige how he felt a month before senior year was over. Paige moved to Lancaster and Derek went back to Long Island post graduation. We dated long distance until March 14, 2020 when we moved in together to our first apartment in Philly. The next day COVID shut everything down and after almost 2 years of long distance dating we made up for all that time away from each other by getting to spend every waking minute together. From moving across the country to Phoenix during COVID where Paige did travel nursing for a few months then back to Philly, our relationship has only grown stronger. Not a day goes by where we don’t think about the dumb luck of our paths crossing in college. We can’t wait to see what the rest of this life together has in store for us!

It was June 26th 2023 and it was a very windy night in Philly. Derek was hoping the down pour that was slated for 7pm would hold off just a few more minutes. We had reservations at our favorite restaurant in Philly, Prunella, but Derek planned for a little pre dinner stroll around Rittenhouse Square to take in the scenery of the city that night. Derek was nervous and Paige knew something was up (she always does). Derek took her on a route that was not even remotely in the direction of our reservations. We got to the picturesque corner of the park and Derek got down on one knee. Paige was a little shocked (SUCCESS!) and she said “yes!”. The rain held off, we were engaged, and enjoyed a great meal together to celebrate.
