Stephen and I met 3 years ago in Bahrain. A few months before, my grandfather came to my parents and I to tell us that he was planning to go to Bahrain to thank Jim Harrison (Stephen's dad) and his church in Bahrain for donating to his organization (PCC). He proceeded to tell us the night before, he woke up in the middle of the night and felt God was telling him to take me with him. He did not know why but felt he needed to obey God. We purchased my ticket. I was feeling uneasy about the idea but excited to see what came from the adventure. When we arrived to Bahrain my grandpa had a meeting so I went to the missionary family's house to meet them. When I walked in the door there sat Stephen at the table doing homework. My first thought was "I hope this is the reason for me coming." Both of us were shy with each-other and exchanged a few conversations during my stay. The following summer I invited his family over to our house. Stephen and I conversed better, however, I was still so shy. After that summer we began to talk over social media and Whatsapp. His family continued to come over a few times the next few summers. In March of 2018, my parents and I traveled back to Bahrain to thank the church and update them in replacement of my grandfather. The night before I left, Stephen took me for a walk in the street. We talked for roughly four hours. Both of us really opened up about ourselves and our lives. It was in this walk where we both realized we wanted to be with each-other. We talked about how our long distance relationship was going to look like since I was leaving the next day. We maintained a long distance relationship from April until July with frequent video calls until he came to visit in July. In September I went back to visit and spend more time with his family. On October 1st Stephen took me on a nice date. He took me to the park we walked the night we fell in love then proposed with an ocean view. We are both excited to start this journey together.
