FAQs

The Wedding Website of Lauren Hamlin and Andrew Mersch
Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our wedding day—from accommodations to dress code and event details. If there’s anything we haven’t covered, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help!
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We are requesting Formal attire! We'd love to see our family and friends get dressed up for our big day. We kindly ask that you avoid colors traditionally reserved for the bride - whites, ivories, and creams. For more information on Formal wedding attire, please refer to the “Attire” tab (for both the ladies and gents!).

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

Please refer to the wedding invitation or the RSVP section of this site regarding if a plus-one is permitted. If you received a plus one, they will appear under your name when you RSVP. Due to venue capacity, we kindly ask that you align with our policy regarding plus-ones. Thank you so much for your understanding!

Question

Are my kids invited?

Answer

We adore your kids! Unfortunately due to limited numbers, children are only invited if named on the invitation. We hope you understand our decision, and look forward to celebrating this special day with you.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony will begin punctually at two-thirty in the afternoon at Holy Family Church. Please arrive no later than two-fifteen to ensure that you are seated on time.

Question

Will the wedding take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will both be held indoors. The cocktail hour, weather-depending, is scheduled to be on an outdoor terrace. We ask that you please plan your attire accordingly.

Question

When is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

RSVP deadline details will be released in the coming months and will also be listed on the formal invitation.

Question

Where do I park?

Answer

Both the ceremony and reception offer complimentary parking for all guests. For all guests staying the night at The Westin Lombard, parking passes are also complimentary, which can be retrieved from the front desk.

Question

What do I do if I can't make it?

Answer

You will be dearly missed! If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP "Not Attending" so that we can plan our headcount accordingly. Thank you!

Question

Can I take photos during the ceremony?

Answer

We will be having an "Unplugged Ceremony", meaning that once the ceremony begins, we ask that all phones be put away and silenced for the duration of the mass. Our wonderful photographer will be sure to capture all of the great memories, which we will of course share with you! Once the ceremony is over, please feel free to take as many photos as you'd like, and don't forget to share them with us!

Question

Will there be an open bar?

Answer

Yes! The drinks are on us, and the hangover is on you. Celebrate responsibly, and please refer to Uber/Lyft ride-sharing services if you're ever unsure. As Lauren always says—get home safe, please!

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Yes, we are of course happy to accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions! Your RSVP will contain an area to indicate your needs. If your specific need is not listed after reviewing the RSVP, please ensure you let us know.

Question

Do you have a hotel block for guests?

Answer

Yes! Please see the travel page on our website for details of our hotel block.

Question

Is there a shuttle service available?

Answer

The Westin Lombard Hotel does not provide a shuttle service. If you're traveling without a vehicle, we'd recommend arranging a ride through Uber or Lyft, or coordinating a carpool with fellow guests attending the wedding.
