Dane County Farmers' Market
A MUST for anyone visiting Madison is the Farmers' Market on the Square! The largest producers-only market in the country is every Saturday morning around the capitol square. Produce, flowers, baked goods, and FRESH CHEESE CURDS can all be found here! It's a great way to start your weekend!
Memorial Union Terrace
Sit on the iconic Union chairs while drinking a draft beer, eating a bratwurst, and gazing at Lake Mendota.
Devil's Lake State Park
The Madison area's natural playground. Go swimming, hiking, rock climbing, camping, or just chill on the beach with some great views of the surrounding area! Take the Merrimac ferry across the Wisconsin River for extra fun times!
Taste of Madison
An annual Labor Day event on the capitol square - taste the best that the Madison area has to offer! Saturday AND Sunday!
University of Wisconsin–Madison Arboretum
Aldo Leopold and others created the concept now known as ecological restoration here. Come see where it all began!
State Street
State Street has always been a thoroughfare for downtown Madison. The mile-long stretch anchored between the Capitol Square and the UW-Madison campus is a historic melting pot of student life, thriving businesses, and rich history.
Lower Yahara River Trail
Take a walk across the northern portion of Lake Waubesa or use this as a jumping off point to bike around the Madison area.

Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Sarah loved visiting Olbrich as a kid and still does! Check out the glass conservatory full of tropical plants and the 16 acres of outdoor gardens complete with a Thai Sala! Afterwards, cross the street and rehydrate at the Olbrich Park Biergarten on the shores of Lake Monona.
