We met at the very first Meetup event that both of us spontaneously decided to attend after being members on the website for over two years. It was October 8, 2014, and the event was Peruvian Wednesday at TeTe Ristorante in Highland Park, New Jersey. Little did we know that this would be the night when we both met our best friend and future love.....

A Santacon and few NYC nights-out later, it was May 27, 2015, and Jake finally mustered up the courage to send a text to Kelly after approximately 5-7 drafts that he ran by his colleague for final approval.... The content of this carefully drafted text was "Hey...got any plans tonight?" to which she replied, "I was thinking of going to yoga tonight". Jake types part two of the carefully drafted message, "Do you want to get some dinner tonight, like on a date?" and hit send, fingers shaking and sweating bullets. Almost two minutes, and four cups of water later, he gets a reply back, "Yes. Sure"

We're back at TeTe's Ristorante in Highland Park, it's been raining non-stop all day, and it's 45 degrees in the middle of May.....Jake couldn't have picked for a better day to pop the question even if he tried.... Under strict guidance and supervision of his sister, Devi, Jake buys the ring, coordinates with the restaurant manager for the song and location, and plans for the parents to be there on Mother's Day weekend of 2017. Everything is according to plan, we are at the booth where Jake plans to pop the question, "Love Me Now" by John Legend is now playing, Jake takes Kelly's hands, AND he starts blabbering inaudibly..... With a look of concern on her face, Kelly asks "Are you trying to be romantic right now??". Still figuring out what he was trying to say, Jake gets down on one knee, flipping the seat cushion in the process.......keys, phone, and wallet flying up in the air, and pops the question, this time being audible enough for Kelly to hear. Even after all that, she said "Yes!" after which, he surprised her again by having both sets of parents and siblings join the party :)
