Terry and I met online. I had set up an online dating profile when I moved to Cleveland. I wanted to see if I would meet anyone just to show me the area other than people from school. One day I was scrolling and I had a message from Terry. I honestly can't remember who messaged who first but after a day or so we exchanged numbers and started talking. We agreed to meet at an Applebee's halfway between my place and his. (Turns out it was not really half way but it was still nice) I left class anxious and nervous and drove to the parking lot. Stopping to check the little makeup I had on. I waited and 6 pm came and went. I get a message that Terry was running late. I wait and wait some more. Honestly I was thinking "This jerk just stood me up". Finally he shows up at almost 8pm. We sit and have a nice dinner and talk for three hours. It was really such an awesome night. Well worth the wait I thought when we hugged goodbye and he waited to make sure my car started and I was on my way home.
So after our second date, I went to meet Tiffany, Terry's best friend. The three of us have lunch before Terry had to go to work and that is when I find out it was Tiffany who set up his online account and I had really been corresponding with her the first day of talking!!!!! I laughed and could not believe it. Turns out Tiffany and her cousin Jay Jay made Terry's profile, they searched through different girls and messaged the ones that "didn't seem crazy and might fit Terry" and they thought I was relatively sane. I guess that is up for interpretation lol. So Tiffany was the one talking to me and making me interested in Terry all along. We joke that I fell in love with Tiffany first and our anniversary is on Halloween every year. How appropriate huh?
Terry used to be a truck driver, the summer when we started dating he was over the road. I went with him for a week. Now THAT was a new experience. I had been camping, had driven across country, but I had never been in a Semi-truck traveling feeling like I was a giant compared to everyone else. That week we laughed and had so much fun. Some guy tried to pick me up thinking I was a lot lizard and I vowed never to go to a rest stop bathroom alone without him the rest of the trip. We got to see different areas of the midwest and we had a blast. Although washing my hair in a bathroom stall was not the highlight of the trip haha. We have gone to see my family a few times. I always ask Terry what is something new he wants to see or do during our trip. One time we went to New York with David and Kristin for the day and took a bus tour of the city. Another time we went to Boston and did the same thing and went to the aquarium. We have gone to the beach and Terry has swam in the ocean, and we have explored parts of CT I had never really explored. And the whole time we have fun and just uncover something new.
The year of 2020. Covid is rampant and all holiday plans are down the drain. But I can still send some love through the mail in a Christmas card. I honestly did not think Terry would do the whole dress up take a picture for a picture card thing. When he agreed without much arm twisting (maybe some from Tiff) I was shocked. I did not have class that day but Terry had to change his brakes. I was upstairs getting packages from amazon and all of the sudden Tiffany says something to our friend Amanda, I thought she was talking to me I asked what and she said "Mind your business" in her crazy joking voice. Okay whatever I said and worked on some stuff and then got dressed and Tiff did my hair. I was in need of a trim and she hid it well. While we are taking photos Terry starts to get nervous. I said are you ok? And he starts talking about how it had been a long time coming, half of me was thinking he was about to give me the boot because of how he said it lol. All of the sudden he is down on his knee and I hear the camera keep clicking and realize it was a set up. I thought I was saying "oh my God, Oh my God" But apparently no one else heard me. Because then Terry goes "Babe you gotta answer me!" Good grief I thought I did!!!! So I said yes! And Tiff started to take some engagement photos that night.
