Wedding Party

Meet some of the friends and family members who are standing with us on our big day!

Carlie Spore

Maid of Honor

Carlie is my little sister and built-in best friend. We've been tight from the days of matching Gymboree outfits to middle and high school memories, to my departure to college. She knows me better than (almost) anyone, and has always been there for me. We have MANY shared memories - my favorite times with Carlie are when we get each other laughing so hard that Carlie starts crying and hiccuping. I also loved the two years I drove us to church on Wednesdays, and we became very acquainted with the Hamilton soundtrack! Carlie has an extremely empathetic spirit and is so wise beyond her years - she never fails to encourage me (and others) and shines the light of Christ wherever she goes. There's no one I'd rather have be my maid of honor than Curly Sue!

Derek Van Roekel

Best Man

Derek is my best friend as well as an amazing brother-in-Christ! I met Derek at our fraternity, Beta Sigma Psi, at school at Iowa State. Our relationship started with a lot of good talks, punching each other, and tackling each other on the stairs- all in good fun of course. Since coming to ISU and being in Salt Company, Derek and I have both seen our lives turned around by Christ and he has been there for me every step of the way. In fact he was the first person I told that I though Hallie was the one for me- a month or two after we started dating. Derek is such a caring, amazing, Christ-loving individual that I admire a ton. There is no one I'd rather have stand by me at our wedding!

Hannah Spore

Junior Bridesmaid

Hannah, my baby sister! I am so delighted to have her standing with me when I marry the man of my dreams - a man Hannah adores nearly as much as I do. Hannah has loved Oliver since the beginning, with a sort of shy affection that is sweet to see. Hannah and I have made many, many memories throughout the years, but some of my favorites have been our ice cream/smoothie dates in the summer, as well as the bike rides we take around town (that end up being a bit longer than Han bargained for, and inevitably result in her walking her bike behind me.) Last summer, we went adventuring to county parks and I taught her how to kayak. I love that Hannah is thoughtful and sweet, with a daring and adventurous streak. She has an infectious smile, too. Oli and I are so excited to have her in our wedding!

Sam Spore

Groomsman

Sam is one of my favorite people in the world and my favorite person to talk to. He always brings a smile and brightens up any room that the comes in to. Sam and I have shared a special relationship ever since I met him. It's been full of pranks, jokes, laughs, board games and lots of arm wrestling matches. I think one really special thing about Sam is that he really loves people like Jesus does. No matter who you are, he is the same joyous guy who intentionally cares about you and how things are going. I can not wait to make more memories with my brother, Sam.

Vivian Flores

Bridesmaid

I first met Vivian when she joined Livi's and my connection group as a freshman in college. I remember the first semester of having her in group, I thought she was really quiet but undeniably sweet. Livi and I would pick her up off the curb outside her dorm to go to Salt, and when she'd get in my minivan it was like pure joy entered the vehicle! This last year, Vivian roomed with Livi and me, and she quickly became one of the closest friends I've ever had. Some of my favorite memories with Vivian have been dance parties (she has MAD skillz), obsessing over the Jonas Brothers, deep talks, and doing chores for Oliver (haha). Vivian's selfless heart for others shines brightly, and in that way Jesus is SO glorified! She's made a huge impact on my life. Oliver and I are PUMPED to have her!!

Carter Spore

Groomsman

Carter- what an amazing brother. I have loved to see Carter's passion for Christ, his family, and friends. One of my favorite memories with Carter was this Spring Break when I jumped in the Spore's big twelve-person white van to head down to Gulf Shores. I think that was such a great opportunity for us to bond while he helped me hatch the plot to surprise Hallie. The trip was full of fun, laughs, and singing silly songs (look up "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night). Carter is one of the most genuine people that you will meet and I am so excited to grow closer with him in the years to come.

Abigail Dies

Bridesmaid

Abby is the younger of Oliver's two sisters - another new sister for me! I have loved getting to know Abby in the past year and a half, especially watching her love for their sheep and pups and witnessing the relationships she has with her family and friends. While she is often the subject of tickles, tackles, and teasing, it doesn't take long to see she and Oli have a very special bond. I admire that so much. We've made fun memories together at the Boone County Fair and State Fair, playing with Scout (their new Australian Shepherd puppy), and spending time with their family. She plays a mean game of Garbage, and can be a deadly opponent in MarioKart, as well. She's a sweet gem, and I am so glad to be gaining her as a sister in law!

Kyle Beyer

Groomsman

Kyle is more than just part of my extended family but is one of my closest friends and one of the only people that can get me to try new things without even giving it a second thought. One of those things being a night in Pittsburgh where we didn't know what to eat so he made raspberry chicken at his apartment in New York... it sure was interesting to say the least. Or eating ice cream in a hot tub... an experience I think everyone should try at least once in their life. Kyle is one of the most patient, funny, and kind people in my life that has actually been with me through everything in my life. All the highs and lows, and all the while modeling what it looks like to be a Christian man that loves people well. Such an amazing person that is already doing amazing things!

Emily Dies

Bridesmaid

Emily is Oliver's older sister. One of the first things I noticed about Emily is her bubbly personality! She is also an extremely talented artist. Her paintings, photographs, and designs are a common sight around the Dies home. I can tell that Emily has the same first-child/oldest sister vibe that I do, and it's been fun to connect to that. We got to spend a lot of time getting to know each other last summer while holding onto halters at sheep shows and watching Abby and Oli in the ring. This last Christmas, Emily made me the coolest leather tote bag for teaching - I was stunned by her thoughtfulness and talent! I am excited to keep making memories with Em and having her as one of my new sisters... and so thankful to have her stand with Oli and me on our wedding day!

Harrison Guetzko

Groomsman

The world needs more Harrison's. I met Harry when I went to Salt Company Conference in Des Moines my freshman year. I went with one or two friends that got me connected with his group. That first night, Harrison offered for me to stay at their hotel with him- which was crazy to me because I had just met him. It was one of the best weekends of my life and ultimately the weekend that I surrendered my life to Christ. As life went on, Harry and I have gotten a lot closer and he is always who I go to if I need some encouragement. He is the kind of guy that just radiates joy and always brightens up a room. Now Harry is also getting married and will be going to lead a Salt Company Church Plant at THE Ohio State University! Couldn't be prouder of him!

Livi Hartman

Bridesmaid

Livi and I first met as freshman inhabitants of Linden Hall at Iowa State. She was an answer to prayer when I came back after Christmas break that year, feeling pretty lonely and friendless. We met through a mutual friend (shoutout to Jenna Baumler) and completely hit it off! By the end of the week, we were eating all our meals together and going to ISU women's basketball games. Livi and I are kindred spirits and both dearly love to laugh. She brings out some really goofy sides of me and we've made lots of memories together through the years at college - including being roommates for two years. Livi is kind, boisterous, thoughtful, and adventurous. I am so thankful the Lord gave me her as a dear friend right when I needed her.

Ben McClain

Groomsman

Ben is truly an amazing friend that I have gotten to know through showing sheep and going to Iowa State together. One of my favorite memories with Ben was when we won the Clay County Commercial Ewe show together with Grand and Reserve. Then we met Wendy Wintersteen, Iowa State President, and got to chat with her. Pretty cool for a couple of college kids! Ben is always there for me at the drop of a hat and always down to talk sheep. When we hang out, more often than not, you can find us sitting in a hay bunk at the barn talking about life and that's where we will be for years to come. I am so blessed by so many amazing friends.

Bethany Doom

Personal Attendant

Bethany Doom is one of THE sweetest pals ever!!! We met as freshmen in Linden Hall but really got to know each other at the ever-beloved ISU stadium cleanup, when we both hopped on the trash trucks and had no idea what we were doing! (or that we'd be on those trucks together for 4 hours). We are still very fond of that memory, but we've also had many other shared experiences. We got to co-lead a C-Group together as sophomores, and we've been in D-group together ever since! Bethany is one of the most encouraging friends I know, always there to cheer me up and pray over me with a signature B-Doom rap-prayer. I love the times when we laugh so hard we cry. Also, our dates eating chili and watching Austenland. Also, dancing together during worship at Salt. She is amazing and I love her!!

Cooper Spore

Usher

Coop is one of my many little brothers - though by stature, not so little anymore! He's affectionately nicknamed "Stretch" in our family. Cooper is a too-cool-for-school 7th grader who really has a huge heart (and a great singing voice) - but keeps those details under the radar. He's a comedian in our family and is always making me chuckle. One of my favorite memories with Cooper was when he was about two years old and we were on a family bike ride... he was a man of few words but obsessed with LarryBoy at the time, so when we passed by our neighbors out on their porch, he yelled, "Hello, citizens!" He's charming, that's for sure. We're happy he's taking up an usher position on our wedding day.

Caleb Spore

Usher

Caleb, one of my other baby brothers... also known as Cable, Sundance, and whatever character he choses to dress up as during the day. What a kid! When I asked him if he wanted to be an usher in the wedding, he was dubious... until I told him he'd get to walk ladies down the aisle and show them to their seats. That sealed the deal! Ever the ladies' man, Caleb knows how to turn on the charm. He also has the most energy of anyone I've ever known! Most of the time, that energy is spent on football, creating new costumes, wrestling, dance parties, or playing with friends. Over Christmas break, I got to be a substitute for one of Caleb's teachers at school - it was so fun to have him come in the door of my classroom to work with me. He'll look sharp in his suit as he walks you down the aisle!

Hayden Spore

Golf Cart Usher

Meet my bro, Hayden! He's been pumped about this job since before Oliver and I even got engaged, but this is nothing surprising if you know Hayden. Cars, lawn mowers, and golf carts are his game, along with building Lego, golfing, swimming, and football. As Hayden's gotten older, he and I have gotten to spend more time together. I'm convinced we're pretty similar in a lot of ways; we think and talk about things the same way, and we're both very detail-oriented. We both get teased for our "who died?" tendency of expecting the worst when someone is having a serious conversation on the phone ( a big inside joke!) And we both have KILLER dance moves. Hayden amazes me with his maturity in faith; I love hearing him pray. Tell him hello and hang on tight (jk!) as he shuttles you to the wedding!
