All of these places listed are within minutes of our wedding venue! Whether you are flying in for the day, or staying through the weekend. We want you to have a guide as this is a family friendly town with so many fun things to do and see!
Being the oldest dance hall in Texas you best believe the greats have played here, from George Straight, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, etc. We have been here to see Country artists in the past and grew up singing along and dancing in song as a little girl. Make this wedding an excuse to have a blast for the weekend and purchase tickets online. The website lists bands playing each weekend. Although not listed yet, April dates are soon to come!
"Represents a bit of the town’s later history. Built 1977, the current structure is a replication of the original Gruene cotton gin which was in operation until it was destroyed by fire in 1922. This restaurant is now as famous for it's stunning tiered patio along the Guadalupe River as for its mouthwatering burgers and chicken fried steak."
The week of April 20th could be a chilly one, wild windy one, or a nice sun shining day. With that being said its hard to say if this recommendation will stand true, but in the chance the weekend looks promising take a chance on tubing!
Pete bought me my first honey stick in the general store. Growing up my brother and I would pick out our favorite candies that you couldn't find in the grocery store...from chocolates shaped like golden coins, to Razzles, homemade fudge, and ice cream all within reach! Take your kiddos in and make a memory!
For my fellow coffee lovers! There's sure to be a Starbucks or Dunkin nearby. Should you want to chance a local shop this one should do the trick!
"Back in the heyday of the horse and buggy, farmers throughout the Guadalupe River valley brought the bounty of their cotton fields for processing at the new-fangled water-wheel wonder of the Gruene cotton gin. The original gin was built way back in 1878. That gin was used until the wooden parts of the structure burned to the ground in 1922. Luckily, the three-story brick boiler room survived, which is where the REAL history was made, 55 years later." Gristmill River Restaurant opened its doors in 1977This restaurant is an absolute staple! I used to get a grilled cheese with potato slices, note my nickname was "Carb Queen" for a reason. Their fries are the absolute best and onion rings will definitely impress! I know you'll find something to love here at the Gristmill.
This webpage lists a few more places to stop by incase you're in the mood to explore! I hope you have heaps and loads of fun this weekend. Cannot wait to celebrate with you all!!!
