It was an incredibly cold Saturday in January, Zach drove two and a half hours to meet Halie at the Angry Minnow in Hayward. Little did we know that it would be our first, and last, date for almost a full year. COVID-19 smashed into our lives quicker than we expected. Instead of going out for dates, we stayed in and developed a love for pizza, beer, and board game nights. Halie was a little hesitant at first, she thought Zach was too nice. But Halie's mom convinced her it was ok, that maybe it was worth a shot, and Humphrey approved too (not that Zach asked for it). We started officially dating! At this point Zach was driving down from Aurora on the weekends to visit Halie. Every weekend was spent exploring the area, the lakes, and the breweries when COVID allowed. Eventually we got around to meeting each other's families and friends, and were able to go on real dates again! We've enjoyed camping, canoeing, hiking, fishing, and picking out new board games for Halie to lose at. We hope to spend a lot more time pursuing these activities in the future too! Zach finally decided to propose to Halie on October 17th while out for a walk on the shore of Lake Superior. Halie said yes and the planning began! We look forward to lots of adventures in our future and we hope to eventually start our own little family!
