We met in one of the most traditional ways - on a dating app. After texting for a few weeks, Haley was out at a bar in Dallas with a couple of her best friends from college and she invited Taylor to come meet them. Taylor was at a Grateful Dead cover band concert and decided to throw caution to the wind and go meet them. We were both nervous to meet each other, but from the moment we met it was magical. Haley got to see and experience Taylor’s humor, kind nature, and chivalry. Taylor also got to experience Haley’s fun personality, her immense love of her relationships with her friends, and most importantly her loud nature. That night we had our first kiss, and the rest is history!
Taylor knew that he had to be very sneaky with his proposal because Haley would surely figure out any plan he would have. With the help of his family (specifically his wonderful sister Blair), Taylor was able to lure Haley to SMU (her alma mater). He told her they were taking Christmas photos with his family and the photographer from his sister’s wedding. Haley thought it was strange that the pictures were taking place at SMU, seeing as no one in his immediate family attended SMU. Taylor was very calm the whole day, so Haley had no idea what was to happen. When we got to SMU, no one from Taylor’s family had arrived. Haley started getting suspicious, as Taylor’s parents are always the first to arrive. After we greeted the photographer, she proceeded to take a couple of pictures of the two of us. Haley, naturally, stood on Taylor’s right side as she does in every photo. She immediately felt the ring box in his right jacket pocket and proceeded to freak out. Taylor turned to hug Haley and was shaking like a leaf - she knew this was it! He got down on one knee and gave a beautiful speech about how much Haley means to him and asked her to marry him. It was one of the best days of our lives!
