Shaun and I met when we were working for the transit authority in Nashville. We instantly became friends. One of the first days of me driving my bus broke down and Shaun was the mechanic called out to fix it. From then on out we talked daily and because of my excellent driving skills, (they were promise), Shaun was constantly out fixing the buses that I drove. We both started to pick up extra shifts followed by lunches and dinners. Fast forward a job change and 3 years later. I had a late day at work and brought home our favorite hibachi takeout. When I got home Shaun had made a book with all the reasons that he loved me. I was flipping through the pages and when I finally got to the last few pages they read, " Haley, will you marry me?" I looked over and he was on one knee! The happiest and most unexpected day of my life. We have since moved states, started new careers and built a home from the figurative and literal ashes.
