This is the story of Haley and I. Which, like most love stories, began outside of a gas station in Arkansas during our sophomore year in college. When we got back to Oklahoma State, I made an effort to spend time with her before and after class. Most of the time I would walk up and realize there was a quiz or something due that I completely spaced on. Haley, of course never did that, she got A’s in everything, and I barely got B’s. In July of 2016, I went on a trip and I found that she had snuck a sweet letter in my bag. That was the moment I knew I was going to ask out this really pretty girl that I had a crush on for months. Little did I know, at the same moment I was planning on asking her out, Haley was planning to tell me to quit leading her on and make a move. Thank goodness she let me talk first. We had our ups and downs in our relationship, didn’t even really know where it was going at times, but it always seemed to continue one way or another back to each other. After we graduated in May of 2018, I moved out west to Colorado. That July, Haley came to visit me. The day she flew back, I went straight from the airport to a jewelry store to buy a ring. In January 2019, I began the greatest secretive engagement (in my opinion at least) to ask the woman of my dreams to marry a dweeb like me. I looked all around Colorado to find the perfect spot, I even contemplated that special little gas station in Arkansas. This past February, we drove up a mountain in Boulder, I led her to a bench with a great view, showed her some of my favorite memories with her, and I got down on a knee and asked her to marry me. Six months from the date I asked her, I will marry the most beautiful woman I will ever know in her hometown of Kansas City.
