We were both relatively new to Georgia and both just so happened to download the same dating app to start swiping through. I was intrigued by his profile - some would say it was the jacked up Black Chevy 2500 in one of his pictures. And I'm confident my golden retriever, Dixie, had something to do with his reasoning to swipe right for me. But nevertheless, we "matched" and began to chat. After a few months of getting to know each other over messaging, we finally built up the courage to take things to the next step and meet up for our first date. We settled on Taco Mac in Duluth for the location- neutral ground, ya know, in case things didn't go all that great. In hindsight, wings weren't the best first date choice, but it's fine - we're here now, after all. Needless to say, the date went quite well as we sat and talked for hours.. I left the date knowing it was the start of something really amazing. My friends checked in on me right as I was getting in my car. My response to the group text of "Sooo, how did it go?" was a simple, yet lofty, "I'd marry him tomorrow". And, well, now that tomorrow is just around the corner.
Kyle has a lot of amazing qualities and is a man of many talents; however, secret keeping is not among those talents. We discovered some time into our relationship that his overall lack of planning and "go with the flow" approach is the perfect complement to my, "let's plan all the details" mindset - opposites attract, right? Knowing this, I've always joked with him that the day he decided to propose he was going to have to walk in the door and just pop the question because if he tried to plan anything or keep a secret I would catch on. On February 8, 2019, I was working from home and Kyle had the day off. He told me he was going to get new tires in his truck (yes, that same truck I swiped right for) and would be home soon. Thinking nothing of it, I went on about my day. Around 4:30 that afternoon, I heard Kyle pull up in the driveway and then, strangely, the doorbell rang. I thought it was odd but went to the door anyway - thinking he might need help with something. So here I was in my work from home glory - fresh out of the shower, no make up on, looking a hot mess - and I opened the door, only to find Kyle down on one knee with a gorgeous ring that a girl can only dream of. With a trembling voice, he asked me to spend forever with him - and, without hesitation I, of course, said Yes!!!
