Haley and Josh met during Freshman year of college through mutual friends and were often at the same events. Haley always thought Josh was wayyyyy to cool for her, with his tall, bearded, handsome looks and shyness. But, one night senior year they were celebrating a bearcat football win when Haley told her friends how good-looking Josh was. They responded by saying, "WELL GO KISS HIM!". With some confidence from her friends (and some drinks), Haley did just that. They spent the next few weeks hanging out whenever they could, quickly falling in love and becoming best friends. September 24th, 2020: Nearly six years after they began dating (way too long if you ask Haley or Josh’s family) the day had finally come. Haley and Josh headed to Shenandoah National Park with their dog Finn in tow. Haley unaware during the six and a half hour road trip that Josh had brought an engagement ring which was bought six months prior. For anyone who knows Josh, you know that planning isn’t exactly his strongest suit so he had been holding the ring for all this time trying to figure out the right way after all these years to pop the question. Once this trip was planned he knew the time and place was right and that there was one place in the park where it would be perfect. That day they climbed to Hawksbill summit and Josh suggested taking some pictures by setting up his phone on a broken tree. They took a few and then Josh asked Haley to grab something from a bag that had been set down nearby. As she did so, Josh hurriedly rifled through his bag to grab the ring box and get on one knee before she turned around. Haley and Finn were both surprised and happy. It was only after the adrenaline wore off and they kept hiking that they realized they weren’t even at the summit when it all happened. Nevertheless, they felt that was an even more fitting end as it sums up their relationship tee; they may not always have the best planning or end up in the perfect place but they always make the most of it together.
