FAQs

We want you to feel totally at ease all weekend long. Here are answers to the questions we think we'll get most.
Question

What's the room block deadline?

Answer

To secure your room at one of our reserved blocks, please book by the following dates. After these deadlines, any remaining rooms will be released to the public, so we encourage you to reserve early. Highlander Mountain House & Outpost Inn: March 6th, 2027 Old Edward's Inn & 200 Main: May 4th, 2027 Trailborn: May 5th, 2027

Question

What if the room block is full?

Answer

We're getting married during peak season in Highlands, so rooms can go quickly between tourism and other events in town. If the block is full, vacation rentals in the area are a great option — and the charming town of Cashiers is just a short drive away with additional lodging choices.

Question

What is the RSVP deadline?

Answer

Please submit your RSVP online by April 21st, 2027.

Question

What's the dress code?

Answer

Welcome Party: Mountain Chic — Coat, no tie, for men; dresses welcome for the ladies. Wedding: Garden Party Formal — Coat & tie or suits for men; long dresses or dressy separates for women. The ceremony and reception will be on grass, so we encourage ladies take that into account when selecting their footwear.

Question

Is there a shuttle between events?

Answer

No shuttles needed! The hotel and all wedding weekend events are within walking distance or a very short drive from one another, so getting around will be easy.

Question

Are Ubers and Lyfts available in Highlands?

Answer

Rideshare availability in Highlands can be limited, so we wouldn't recommend relying on it as your primary way to get around. If you're planning to enjoy a night out without worrying about driving, we suggest walking or coordinating rides with fellow guests staying nearby.

Question

Is there parking at the venue?

Answer

There's no on-site parking, but you won't have to go far. Parking is available just steps away on Spring Street, S 4th Street, and Main Street.

Question

Do I need to rent a car?

Answer

It depends on how you plan to spend the weekend! If you're hoping to explore hiking trails or venture beyond downtown, a car will come in handy. But if you plan to stick to Main Street and have your airport transportation sorted, you won't need one — most everything is within reach on foot.

Question

Are kids and plus-ones welcome?

Answer

We love your little ones and your people! However, we ask that attendance be limited to those named on the invitation. We appreciate you making arrangements for your kids ahead of time so you can celebrate with us!

Question

Will the wedding be outdoors? What happens if it rains?

Answer

The ceremony and reception are outdoors — rain or shine! The ceremony will take place outdoors with a tent reserved as a backup plan. The reception, including dinner and dancing, will be tented.

Question

What's the cell service/Wi-Fi situation in Highlands?

Answer

Cell service near downtown is relatively available, but as you venture outside of Highlands into the hilly terrain of western North Carolina, service is patchy at best. If you don't know where you're going, it’s best to map your destinations in advance, or download a map for offline use. All hotels in our room blocks have wi-fi available on premises.
