While exploring downtown, we recommend visiting: Rainbow Row, Charleston City Market, The Battery, and Hampton Park. You’ll also find a variety of historic walking tours throughout downtown, as well as boat excursions to Fort Sumter National Monument.
Shem Creek is lined with a lively collection of waterfront restaurants and bars, offering beautiful marsh views and a quintessential Lowcountry atmosphere. You can also rent kayaks and paddleboards through Nature Adventures to explore the creek from the water. It is also one of the best spots in the area for dolphin watching.
Sullivan’s Island offers a beautiful, relaxed beach experience, known for its gentler waves and calm shoreline. The island also features a handful of charming shops and local restaurants. Our favorite spot for a memorable meal is The Obstinate Daughter. For something more casual, we recommend stopping by The Co-Op for a frosé and a sandwich.
Folly Beach is a wonderful spot for those interested in trying surfing, browsing beachy souvenir shops, and enjoying a laid-back coastal atmosphere. Be sure to visit the Folly Beach Pier for scenic ocean views. Some of our favorite nearby dining spots include Chico Feo, Jack of Cups Saloon, Ellis Fish Camp, and CudaCo. Just a short drive away, Bowens Island is a small hidden gem near Folly Beach, known for its casual waterfront seafood restaurant and beautiful sunset views. Kayak rentals are also available there for those who’d like to explore the surrounding marshes.
Take time to stroll through the historic Old Village and enjoy a scenic walk along the Pitt Street Bridge, which is a lovely spot for a picnic and beautiful harbor views. For a bite to eat nearby, we recommend Gala Cafe or Post House Inn.
