As two Floridian transplants up in New England we realized that we needed to find a way to spend the cold winters, so in the 2017/2018 ski season Jonathan learned to snowboard and Haley learned to ski! About 2 months after learning to ski they decided to take a trip up to Breton Woods in New Hampshire for a weekday ski trip on a day that Haley didn’t have class. The day started out as any other ski day, stopping at Dunkin’ Donuts for coffee on the way to the mountain, in the morning Haley skied some scenic groomed runs while Jonathan skied in the glades with a friend and then they all met up for lunch. After lunch, all three rode the lift to the summit and Jonathan’s friend, Mac, asked if Haley and Jonathan would like a picture together at the summit. Haley thought this was a great idea and Jonathan, who is not always the biggest fan of pictures, asked “do we have to?” After some convincing, he agreed to take the photo. Trying to get coordinated with skis and a snowboard proved to be challenging so Jonathan decided to take his snowboard off to make it easier to get the picture. However, when he came back rather than stand next to Haley, he got down on one knee and said “We’ve spent the last 5 years together and I honestly can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone else, will you marry me?” Haley said “YES!!!” but was so caught off guard that she forgot to take her ski goggles off for the pictures! They happily skied the rest of the afternoon together and celebrated with an apres ski beer!
