There are a ton of quaint shops to explore! Our favorite is Saratoga Olive Oil Co., where you will find life-changing white truffle oil. (We like drizzling some on top of Annie's Mac & Cheese. Yeah, we're classy.)
Haley's first-ever camping trip was with Jon at Mount Moosalamoo. She loved every minute of it until a lack of coffee revealed a dependence Haley never knew she had. Luckily, Jon swiftly got her to a cafe after a groggy morning hike...
We love pizza, and we love it even more when the joint is connected to Zero Gravity Brewery. The wood-fired pizza is always awesome, even when we need to draw a sharp divide line between the sausage and mushroom territories. Raise a glass of Oktoberfest for us!
While you're here, you might as well check out the lodge itself! Trapp has a historic tour if you're in the mood for enhancing your mind, and a brewery tour if you're good with clouding it. We first went to the lodge on a beautiful fall day a couple of years ago. It clearly left an impression! We were particularly excited by the adorable goats milling about. Here is a link to some of the activities you might try: https://www.trappfamily.com/spring-summer-fall.htm
On one of our Vermont trips, we decided to hike Mount Hunger with our friends. What we had thought would be a gentle hike turned into a grueling ordeal as we encountered muddy paths, slick rocks, and steep climbs. Neither of us had worn hiking boots, and the journey back down was even more difficult than the one up! When Haley really started struggling with the slippery descent and a sore foot, Jon carried her on his back all the way back down the mountain. Happy to be alive and at the bottom of Mount Hunger, we decided to find a nearby restroom before heading home. Haley picked the first one she saw on Google Maps, and it happened to belong to THE Ben and Jerry's factory! On national ice cream day, no less! Not a bad place to make a pit stop—or reward your loved one's superhuman capabilities.
