John and I were introduced through a mutual friend in October of 2022. We began talking shortly afterwards, went on a few dates, but after a few weeks things didn't end up working out... awkward! As time went on, we would see each other around on campus, him working in his fire academy and me playing softball. There would be the occasional wave hello, but that was really it. I don't think either of us thought anything was going to come of it! Around January, after a few months of not talking, I saw John's car in the parking lot one day and decided to park directly next to him, not thinking he would notice. I continued doing this whenever I would see an open space next to his car. At around the same time, every now and then when I would come back to the parking lot after practice, there would be either a rubber duck or a frog taped to the windshield of my car with the longest piece of tape you could ever imagine. What I didn't realize was that a duck would appear every time I decided to park next to John's car... I had no idea who it was, but every time I would see a duck I would get so excited. This went on until April, and by then I had told everyone I knew about the mysterious duck person. On April 18th, on my last week of softball season, I got to school earlier than usual and found an empty parking lot. The only car parked in a spot was John's, and I made the genius decision to park directly next to it. What I didn't realize was that he was still sitting in his car. So, he got out with a smile in his face and put the last duck he had directly on my windshield right in front of me. Afterwards, we talked for a few minutes, caught up about the past few months, and later I reached out. The next day we went on our second first date, and the rest is history. We dated for about 2 1/2 years and were engaged on September 5th, 2025. We are so excited to share the happiest day of our lives with you!
