Haley and Hunter met in March of 2022 when Haley interviewed for a sales position at Mazda of South Charlotte. On her very first day, the first thing Hunter said to her was, “You ready to sell some cars?!?” In an industry heavily dominated by men, Haley immediately noticed how different Hunter was. He was kind, encouraging, and always willing to help guide her through the fast-paced world of car sales. Ironically, Hunter had just been promoted into finance as Haley was stepping into the sales role he had previously held. The two quickly realized they had very similar personalities and work ethics, which made them naturally gravitate toward each other. What started as asking questions and learning the ropes slowly turned into long conversations in Hunter’s office — talking about how to improve, how to move up in the business, and sometimes just venting through slow days at the dealership. At the time, both Haley and Hunter had recently come out of relationships and weren’t exactly looking for anything serious. But somewhere between sales goals, lunch bets, and ice cream runs, things started to change. During Haley’s very first month selling cars, she set a goal to sell 12 vehicles. Hunter jokingly told her that if she hit the goal, he’d owe her lunch or dinner. She hit it — and made sure to remind him. In fact, Haley made the first move not once, but twice. The first was to collect on the promised meal, and the second was simply because she wanted ice cream and asked if he wanted to go with her. By the third outing, Hunter finally walked up to Haley’s desk and officially asked her to dinner that night. From there, the two became inseparable. Not long after Haley left the dealership to return to her former (and current) career, she moved in with Hunter. Together, they built a life filled with love, ambition, growth, countless memories, and — fittingly — many cars. Along the way, they upgraded apartments, bought their first home, welcomed two pups into their lives, and experienced both incredible joy and heartbreaking moments together. Their first dog, Nova, became such a huge part of their story and taught them both so much about love, commitment, and resilience through the challenges they faced alongside her. On July 12, 2026, Haley and Hunter will celebrate four years together. In that time, they’ve lived in two apartments, one house, had two dogs, and built a relationship rooted in friendship, loyalty, laughter, and choosing each other through every season of life. Now, they can’t wait to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter surrounded by the people they love most.
