We met through college initially as just friends in the same organization. When getting ready for Clarion's Autumn Leaf Festival, Haley was leading the float building project and David volunteered for every opportunity to ensure the float was a success. It was. After that we became better friends and were hanging out and studying together. Being Haley's third year and David's first, it was nice to distress with each other's company. Soon after we found out we were in the same National Guard unit so we realized we could drill together. Our Unit's military ball was quickly approaching and as we spent more time together David asked Haley to be his date. She said yes without question. Time passes then on November 11, 2018 the two shared the night together with laughs and smiles. That night David asked Haley to be his and they quickly became inseparable.
In the week leading up to the day I proposed I was really nervous and excited. Right before Haley returned from Germany, I had asked her mother for permission to marry her and began planning how I was gonna ask her. I had so many different plans in my head from asking her at the homecoming game, to asking in a plane above Clarion. It wasn't until I found out that Haley's family was coming up from Pittsburgh that I hatched the perfect plan. The most important piece of this proposal was family, I wanted everyone there when I did it. I managed to get our friends in the parade in on it as well knowing they can help take pictures. As the parade started the slow procession was killing me as I felt like my heart was in my throat from all the excitement. When we got closer to the families I shot the signal and the families called Haley over. Without her noticing, I got down on a knee and asked her to marry me. She was shocked and couldn't speak but started crying tears of joy. She said yes! Her mother, my mother and grandmother all had flowers to give her. Then we ran to catch up with the parade and started our journey of the rest of our lives.
