Watch the ceremony in Italy here!
We met working at Nationwide. I had just started the New Employee Training class and Brenton was a Skills Coach for the training department that would guest teach topics. I like to say I was hot for teacher but Brenton does not like that joke as much. Anyway, eventually he informed me he was going to a bar with some co-workers after work and as the modern Rico Suavé that he is, he said "you could come if you want." It was perfect.
Brenton had originally planned to propose on our Italy trip in a hot air balloon ride, but my ring wasn't finished and the hot air balloon ride was cancelled due to weather so utz to that. After my ring arrived and my anticipation had grown to the point that I said "just put it in a chicken nugget and hand it to me, I don't care!", Brenton made dinner reservations 3 weekends in a row without my knowledge so I was planning other activities for us and postponing the proposal. Brenton finally put "date night" on our calendar so I was unable to foil his plan with extracurriculars. On the evening of, we went to Veritas and had a lovely 4 course meal, and before the 4th course Brenton got down on his knee in the restaurant and proposed. I don't know what he said, I kind of blacked out, until I was revived by the sound of popping champagne. Our waiter was johnny on the spot with a freshly poured toast of congratulations! We finished the evening with a night cap at Citizens Trust where the bartenders gave us more celebratory libations that we probably didn't need. It was also perfect.
The wedding will actually be at a villa in Cortona, Tuscany in Italy (see picture below) with an intimate group of close family and friends. We got the opportunity to see the villa on our trip to Cortona in August of 2022, and it was - you guessed it - perfect.
