Our first date was a classic choice: dinner and a movie. We treated ourselves to an appetizer round of milkshakes followed by deliciously unhealthy food at the Med, over which we discussed important topics like memes and the disappointing endings to popular sitcoms. We then went over to Doc Films to watch the Hitchcock classic The Birds. Our first date proved to overcome the inauspiciousness of the day, as we finished the date with a walk around the Midway Plaisance on a surprisingly warm Chicago day.
Our families' first meeting was at Yellowstone National Park (one of Haley's family's favorite vacation locations) during the week of Independence Day 2017. The week was marked by fun and adventure, filled with bison and bear encounters, breathtaking hikes, and great conversation.
Shortly after arriving in Baltimore, Haley's first question to Bob was "How soon can we get pets?" Visiting a local rabbit shelter's adoption day under the guise of "browsing", Haley made a beeline for two rabbits she had seen online, a cuddly large white rabbit and a smaller helicopter-eared black-and white rabbit. These two rabbits, later named Squirrel and Mumford, have become an integral and beloved part of our household.
With high hopes for 2020, we kicked off Haley's spring break with a trip to New Orleans. We started the journey with a drive to the Gulf Shores, when we learned about the impending shut-down of the country in the coming days. While stopped over in Gulfport Beach overnight, Bob woke Haley up early to walk to the beach, where got on one knee and asked her to marry him.
