Our Story

His POV Haleigh and I had some of the same classes in college, but we never really talked much at first. The first real moment I remember between us was in the spring of 2019 — just a quick interaction about the Masters tournament on social media. Neither of us could have known then where life would take us. It wasn’t until the following fall that we hung out for the first time and started seeing each other more. In early 2020, at the start of our second quarter, college went online. While most students headed home, both Haleigh and I stayed on campus, and that’s when we truly grew close. It was during that time I realized how much I loved being with her — laughing, talking, and just being together. What I fell in love with about Haleigh was everything — her amazing personality, her goofy side that could always make me laugh, and her smile that could turn any day around. I loved her competitive spirit, especially trying (and failing) to beat her at golf back then. Every little detail about her made me realize she was the one. By the late summer of 2024, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to spend forever with her. After carefully planning how I wanted to propose, my sister helped organize a photo session — something Haleigh had been wanting for a while. On November 9th, in Rocky River, I asked Haleigh to marry me... and she said yes! Now, we can’t wait to start this next chapter of our lives together, surrounded by the people we love most. Her POV This might be my fifth — no, sixth — time trying to write this, because how do you even put into words how much you love someone like Jess? He’s the best human being I know. He’s kind, thoughtful, funny, and somehow meets every little thing I ever dreamed of in a husband. The big things, of course — wanting to build a family, sharing the same values and beliefs — but also the little things: we both love being on the water, we love sports, and we’re somehow both introverted and extroverted depending on the day. Jess is simply home to me. Wherever he is, I feel safe. He’s my person, just like Cristina Yang and Meredith Grey would say. There were so many little moments that built our story. I still remember meeting Jess’s family for the first time — walking up nervous, only to be welcomed by his brother swinging open the van door and his grandparents smiling from the backseat. It didn’t take long to see how much love surrounded him — and how easily he shared it with others. During college, especially when our sports seasons were put on pause during COVID, we made memories I’ll always treasure — family dinners, endless games of UNO (and maybe a game of beer die, or two?) with friends, and hanging out with our dog, Arya. Those simple days made me realize how much joy Jess brings into everyday life. When Jess proposed — with the help of his sister, Sierra, who somehow kept the secret — I was completely shocked. I had dreamed about that moment for so long, and somehow it was even better than I imagined. Saying "yes" to Jess was the easiest decision of my life, and I can’t wait to spend forever with my best friend.
