7 almost 8 years ago Drew and I met while working at Connxtions Comedy Club. He was a shy, baby faced boy full of tattoos who didn't quite appreciate my incessant teasing habits. :) After a short period of time we became inseparable. Learning and growing from one an others errors and accomplishments. We've came a LONG way in these years and have had some tough and amazing times together. (Mostly amazing) Along with our pup Olive, "we're the 3 best friends that anyone could have." :)
I've hinted at a proposal for about 3 years leading up to this day. LOL! We took a weekend trip to Chicago to see Pearl Jam at Wrigley Field. The second we got off the train we hit the ground running! Checked into hotel, changed and headed to go check out Wrigleyville and get some merch. 6 hours later...We make it back to the room, exhausted and sweaty from a day in the hot sun searching for Eddie Vedder. ;) Drew insisted we go to Navy Pier at night and check it out. I fought with him on it saying I was just too tired but, eventually gave in. The suspicions arise as I think to myself this could be the time! The front of his backpack is locked with a small padlock, he earlier said it was to keep his wallet in when walking around the city. AH HA, I thought, this is where he's keeping my ring! So I start feeling the front of his backpack to feel an outline of a ring box but, nothing. It didn't feel like anything was in there but a round bottle. I became sad thinking, oh man what a great time for a proposal, but thought maybe he had something better planned. Picked up a cab and arrived at Navy Pier. It was a warm summer night with an almost full moon. We walked inside and looked at the shops and then decided to walk around the outside of the pier. The one side was busy and Drew kept walking behind me, I kept staring back making sure he was still there. We got to the very end of the pier and looked out at the boats all lite up. I turned to look at Drew and there he was on one knee asking me to marry him!!! I, of course, bailed my eyes out while some strangers, who saw, congratulated us! lol. We snapped some pictures and walked hand in hand chatting about our future ahead of us. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect moment with my best friend! (For those who are wondering, he kept my ring in a empty pill bottle in his backpack, to make sure he threw me off! He knows me too well. lol)
