Chapman University is where we met and a place that's near and dear to us. Take a romp through our old stomping grounds - the university campus is open to the public, and there are plenty of good food spots in the "Orange Circle" (the traffic circle at the intersection of Glassell and Chapman Ave). Check out Two's Company, The Filling Station, Bruxie, Haven, or one of many local favorites. For good local beer check out Chapman Crafted!
Orange County is home to many craft breweries. Below are a few of our favorites, ordered North to South (and also in order of Brian's favorite beers). There are many more around so feel free to check out whatever's nearby! 1. Bottle Logic http://bottlelogic.com/ 2. Chapman Crafted http://www.chapmancrafted.beer/ 3. Laguna Coast has plenty of good hiking trails. From this parking lot you can create your own loop or out-and back hike anywhere from 2-20 miles. Most of the trails are pretty easy and should have cell service, but be sure to make a plan and take the proper precautions! Also try the "Top of the World" hike from Alta Laguna Park for some wonderful ocean views. After your hike, treat yourself to Gelato Paradiso, Anna's absolute FAVORITE spot in Laguna Beach.
"Duffy" boats are a Newport Beach original. The electric boats are easy to drive and are the best way to see Newport Harbor! groups of up to 12 can rent a boat for 1-2 hours for around a hundred bucks. Check on Groupon or directly through these vendors: http://www.waywardcaptain.com/ --- https://www.duffyofnewportbeach.com/ --- https://www.newportharborboatrentals.net/ --- https://www.newportbeachboatrentals.com/
Kayaks or Stand Up Paddleboards are another great way to explore Newport Harbor if the Duffy Boat is not your style. There are many places to rent but from the Southwind rental place you can easily go out towards the harbor to see fancy boats and houses, or into the back bay which is more of a nature preserve. Either way you're sure to get a good workout, and don't forget the sunscreen!
