Groom
Most people call me "Hak." I'm a lot of things. A photographer, a printer, a musician, a storyteller, a smartass and very stylish! But most importantly, I'm Nina's husband (almost).
Bride
A teacher, a jewelry maker, and a loving soul, but mainly just Hak's handler.
Best Man
One of my closest friends. Christopher has treated me like family since the day we met. I honestly have no idea where or who I'd be had we not crossed paths 15 years ago. He's less my friend, more my older brother.
Maid of Honor
I've never met anyone who wanted to be me as badly as Izzy when we were younger, little did they know I wanted to be like them, too. Bold, strong-willed, and downright funny. Getting to watch them grow into their own has been a great joy, every accomplishment was something to be proud of. Izzy has been my rock our whole lives, but that's my baby. This celebration wouldn't be a party without them!
Best Man
My oldest friend going back nearly two decades. Another "friend" that makes the word feel like an insult. As a kid I probably spent more time in his living room than my own. Nicky has stood by me every day no matter what came and I'm honored to have him do so on my biggest day yet.
Maid of Honor
If there were anyone who knew me better than myself, it would be Kendra. The moment I saw them in the I.S. 171 hallway, I knew that she was going to be my best friend, now family. She stayed in our home one Christmas some 15 years ago and never left. It was the best gift I could ask for. Not when she teams up with Izzy, tho.
Groomsman
People tend to complain about their first college roommate, but we couldn't have been matched better if they tried. From day one it was clear that I'd found a lifelong friend in Theo. Our room was the place to be! (Long live 417) A kind soul, a quick wit, and one hell of a drummer!
Bridesmaid
I get emotional thinking of my baby sister being an adult now. She was the baby now she's somewhere in the middle, but she's still our seamstress, designer, make-up artist, artist, actress, our Jazmin. Full of life, a fiery attitude, ambition, and talent. If I say more, I'll cry.
Groomsman
We survived the Pratt photography department together! The third leg to the infamous triangle formed freshman year. We were damn near inseparable. Afterall, the triangle is the strongest form in nature. Unfortunately the freshman dorms at Pratt didn't have triples, but we remedied that the following year. (1003 is the place to be!) He's got a passion for art and a love for nature even he's still trying to instill in me. That's Patrick Mead. My favorite weirdo.
Bridesmaid
What can I say, man. Maria and I have had so much fun over the years, held space for each other's hurt, had some good laughs and some good cries. I say I don't have friends, I have family because that's what Maria is. Whenever she comes over she always thinks of my grandmother, mother, and siblings and cares for them. I'm blessed to have such kind people around me.
Groomsman
An artist, a musician, a carpenter, a lover not a fighter, and one of my closest friends; it's Mo Bone. He is one of the most creative and insightful people I've ever met. And that's evident by the outrageous parties and events he throws multiple times a year. Mo sure knows how to have a good time and I always have one with him.
Bridesmaid
The baby of our friend group but certainly not the one to be messed with, Kiana is the most kind-hearted, but do not mistake me for a fool type of person I've had the honor to get to know over the years. I've been inspired to take leaps that I otherwise wouldn't have if it wasn't for Kiana showing me it's possible to land on the other side.
Groomswoman
Shelby and I met in work at the Pratt labs while I was trying to do anything but work. We clicked instantly. Probably because I talk too much and Shelby didn't have the guts to tell me to shut up. We've been as tight as could be since. She's a great friend to me and an even better one to Nina. So of course she's gotta be up there with us!
Bridesmaid
When I first met Miana I thought they had a staring problem. Come to find out, they were just my type of weird. I don't know how her parents let me stay friends with them so long but after a few months, I had decided they wouldn't be rid of me anyway. The Vegas have been my soul sisters for years. Here's to more decades of overlapping neurodivergent conversations and full-blown belly laughter!
Groomsman
Nearly two decades later and nothing's changed. Hasani, Nicky, and I all went to middle school together. We lost touch for quite a while, but when we reconnected, it was like it'd only been a week. It's great having him back in the mix and even greater having him in the wedding.
Bridesmaid
When I say that time flies, I mean it zooms! I met Genesis at my first after-school job in 2020. We barely spoke at first, to this day I don't remember what broke the ice, but I'm glad it did. I genuinely never thought I'd have room for another life-long friend. Lucky for them there was enough to squeeze in. Genesis has brought a new type of fun and appreciation in my life and I look forward to years of it.
Mother of the Groom
My mother. The cook, the firecracker, the soldier, the woman who made me what I am today. I can't count the sacrifices she's made for me and I'll never be able to repay it. My mother taught me how to stand tall at 5'6". Because of her I have the courage to face anything that comes my way. She has 3 very hardheaded boys and I could tell she always wanted a daughter too and I love how she finds that in Nina.
Mother of the Bride
My mother has been the person to make the most sacrifices for me, to put up with me. I hope one day to repay her for some of it. Ma taught me a lot of things, but what I will never let go of is how she raised us to be and believe in ourselves. What I loved most were the late nights out with Mom, walking everywhere just to see the world, to experience fun. When our birthdays were themed to our obsession that year, every Christmas gift was what we wanted, and every season/holiday was celebrated and our home decorated for. There are some things I hope to pass on and can say, "my mom used to..." and enjoy it while she still does.
