The Beginning of the Rest of Our Lives

After a string of terrible Hinge dates, John and Giela were ready to take a break from dating apps. Each had committed to one more date. They met at Farley's East in Oakland, CA for coffee. One hour turned to two, two to three and before they knew it the lights of the coffeeshop dimmed, and they were ushered to the door. Anxious for the night to continue, they walked around Lake Merritt, discovering their mutual love of street tacos, and transporting themselves into each other's worlds, with talks of endless travels at the top of the list. When nightfall arrived John insisted upon walking Giela home. He wasn't going to let anything happen to the woman of his dreams! Great sentiment! But in true John & Giela fashion, they quickly ditched their own two feet and opted for a pair of electric scooters instead. Zipping through the hills of Oakland they rode towards Giela's apartment when Giela, in true form, hit a pothole and went flying off the scooter! She popped back up, thoroughly embarrassed. John impressed by her resilience walked her to the corner store for bandaids and peroxide (not that she needed it). The rest is history. In the coming year, John and Giela embarked on trips to Portland, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Austin; attending countless concerts, music festivals, and of course, never stopped exploring their backyard in Oakland. After having a blast at the Hajnos family reunion in Mexico, they went on an international adventure to the Philippines.
