Zane and Hailey actually went to the same High School, but they were not friends. They knew who each other were, but never talked since he was older than her and a grade level higher. They actually "met" at Academy Sports and Outdoors, where they both happened to work! He was a Team Lead, and she was a regular Full-Time Staff member, so it was frowned upon for them to be together, but that clearly did not stop them! They became friends after working together, but didn't talk outside of work, until one day Hailey decided to go out of her comfort zone and text him over Facebook (LOL RIGHT?). They started talking and hit it off from there. It was only a few days later they went on their first date. Little did they know, they both found the love of their lives that day in that Sports store.
After hitting it off over Facebook, Zane asked Hailey if she would like to go to dinner with him one night (which so happened to be Zane's birthday), and of course she said yes! Zane, the gentlemen he is, asked Hailey what she would prefer for dinner, and Hailey being a very indecisive person, left that up to him. That first date dinner turned out to be Moes... yes you read that right, Moes. They sat there for hours talking over the burritos, nachos and queso, and felt like they could've sat there forever talking about anything and everything. After Moes, they decided to get Coldstone Creamery for Zane's birthday! That night they shared stories and laughter's, and never realized from that moment on, they were going to create their own stories from there.
Hailey and Zane were on vacation in New York City for their one year anniversary. They went big and wanted to go somewhere they had not been before. Overjoyed when their plane landed, they walked 3 miles to their hotel in Manhattan to drop their belongings off and start their vacation. They went to Time Square, Empire State Building, Ground Zero, World Trade Center, and did every activity NYC had to offer. They ate too much food to the point Hailey threw up all over the street and Zane's white shoes, and spent over $2,000 in 2 days experiencing everything NYC was about. Their favorite part was going to see the Statue of Liberty. They road the ferry over to the beautiful statue and were in awe of the beauty of the NYC skyline. They enjoyed every aspect of the little island and took so many photos, enjoyed the gift shop, and took in the beauty of the Statue of Liberty and what it meant. Once they got back on the ferry, it went over to the House of Immigration, where they learned all about the immigrants some time ago, and the long rather gruesome process they had to endure. This is where the magic happened! But not because of the House of Immigration. This is where Zane decided to propose because he did not want a huge audience. He wanted it to be just him and Hailey in that special moment. SO, they snuck out one of the back doors, and found themselves behind the House of Immigration overlooking the water and the NYC skyline. It was the most beautiful and breathtaking view and that's when Zane knew that was where he was going to do it. He pulled out the ring, got on his knee and asked Hailey to marry him. With tears in their eyes, Hailey said of course and they scooped each other up and realized their love story had just begun and they were so excited to be able to start it in the most beautiful place.
