Picture it, Marquette 2014. Victoria and Hailey met while working at the Marketplace, or the MP for those Northern Michigan University Wildcats! While Victoria and Hailey knew each other only as coworkers, it turns out a mutual friend thought there could be more. After a few dropped hints from our good friend Trudy, Hailey invited Victoria to her apartment along with a few other coworkers for a "girl's night". A few drinks in Victoria FINALLY arrived! After a few more beers Victoria let the alcohol do all the talking and promised to take Hailey out on a date. The next morning Hailey woke up to a text from Victoria explaining that she truly did plan on fulfilling that promise, and that it wasn't only an admission made possible by a few too many beers. A couple of weeks later they made that date happen while home for winter break, the two met up in Grand Rapids to catch a movie. It turns out that going to see a movie is a terrible first date, how are you supposed to get to know someone?! After the movie Victoria walked Hailey to her car where they decided to sit and get to know each other for a few minutes. A few minutes turned into two hours and suddenly neither of them could wait to get back to their lives in Marquette. After returning to school a few weeks later the two were practically inseparable. From camping and hiking, to spending countless hours at the movie theater the next two years flew by. Victoria started working at Jimmy Johns delivering sandwiches to drunk college kids, while Hailey started working at a hotel dealing with the drunk college parents. Little did they know where those choices would take them. In 2016 they decided to finally rent that U-haul and signed a lease on an apartment in Kalamazoo, MI. Amazingly enough, they both found their way back to their career paths and continued to grow together as a couple. In 2020 Victoria took a different job within Jimmy Johns that lead her to Columbus, OH. Unfortunately though, Hailey wasn't quite ready to leave Michigan. After spending 9 months apart and seeing each other only once or twice a month, Hailey decided that it wasn't working and packed up and relocated to Columbus. This was quite possibly the best decision made. Being in a new city, filled with new people and new experiences was an eye opening experience for them. They decided that for Hailey's birthday in 2021 they were finally going to take that vacation to Colorado that had been on their minds. It was a rainy day in Colorado Springs when they found themselves in the Air BnB playing a game of cards where Victoria got to thinking. A bet was placed on the game of 5 Crowns. If Hailey won, they would go for an adventure and find some ice cream. If Victoria won, they had to do something that she wanted (but she wouldn't elaborate). Victoria tried her best to win that game of 5 Crowns, but it didn't work out for her. Hailey beat Victoria (per usual) and while she was celebrating her victory and the impending ice cream adventure, Victoria decided that she was tired of waiting for the perfect moment. Hailey turned around to find Victoria on one knee asking that big question. Once Hailey was able to get a grip back on reality she of course said YES! The rest of the story is still being written. Hailey and Victoria can't wait to share their special day with their friends and family and to continue writing their story for years to come.
