In the midst of the COVID lockdown, many twenty-something year olds found themselves bored on weeknights. What did this mean? Playing video games and watching movies late into the night! One evening, Hailey was asked by her brothers to play Among Us, an online game similar to ‘Clue’, since they needed one more person to join for a full headcount. This wasn’t an uncommon request, especially because the Ignarra siblings grew up playing games together. What she didn’t know, however, was that she would end up playing this video game with her to-be husband later that evening. Nicholas was sitting in the game lobby chatting up with his friends over voice chat. This was within a normal routine for the 23 year old stuck home during a global lockdown. What wasn’t normal was the fact that he would be introduced to his to-be wife later that evening. Hailey’s bubbly and carefree personality naturally gravitated towards Nicholas’ charm and humor, slowly establishing a solid foundation for what would eventually turn into a lifelong relationship. In the first few weeks Hailey and Nicholas were acquainted, they did not know what the other person looked like. This was largely because while using Discord (an online platform for people to talk while playing video games) with their friends, they only used voice chat and never turned on their cameras. Despite this, there was always an unspoken mutual understanding for each other. Whether it was Nicholas being the only person listening to one of Hailey’s (very) long stories, or Hailey laughing a little harder than everyone else at one of Nicholas’ jokes, their bond continued to grow before either of them even realized it. A few weeks after meeting they would see each other virtually for the first time, and then in person shortly after that. Hailey couldn’t believe she spent the last few weeks talking to such a handsome man about her IBS issues, and Nicholas didn’t even know Hailey existed before meeting her, let alone knowing just how beautiful he thought she was. Even though they were aware of this attraction, they would spend the next two years remaining friends who would see each other in group settings. That was until they confessed their feelings for each other on the StairMasters at their local gym, and began dating not too long after. Four years later, Hailey and Nicholas are now entering an exciting chapter filled with so much love and deep admiration for one another. There are so many wonderful gifts to celebrate in life, but one of the greatest gifts would be getting to marry your best friend. Hailey and Nicholas can proudly say they are able to experience such a special blessing, and can’t wait to share this experience with everyone.
