We met working together at a Krispy Kreme during the pandemic. The first time we had a one-on-one conversation, Joshua said "You drink a lot of monster energy, I'm a bit concerned for your health" and I laughed and brushed him off, but didn't finish my drink that night. It was the start of a great friendship, and the very beginnings of something more.
Our first date was initially supposed to be us hanging out the day before his birthday as friends. We planned it three weeks in advance, and when we both admitted we had crushes on each other a week beforehand, we turned the "hangout" into our first date. We went to a cute Italian restaurant called Cotta, enjoyed a very long walk back to 36th street, a small birthday celebration outside of our job and then a kiss before going home. The rest, as they say, is history.
Because of our love of privacy and keeping things more low-key, Joshua proposed in the comfort of our bedroom, our only witness being the cat, Salem. He paused the tv show we were watching (Friends) and got down on one knee in the room, ring box in hand, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Obviously, I said yes.
