Joe and I actually met online on Christian Mingle, so we like to say that we met through out mutual friend, Jesus. Christian Mingle is a subscription service, so users have to pay a fee to chat with others online. I sent Joe a wink thinking he would send me a message, but he only sent a wink back. So I sent him a message, and I only got a wink back! A couple days later I had a friend request on Facebook, but I didn't know the guy, so I deleted it. Joe was being too cheap to pay for the subscription and tried to cut corners, but I didn't accept his friend request on Facebook, so he was forced to pay to talk to me. It was the best $130 he ever spent.
Joe and I had made plans to celebrate our one year anniversary in Seattle, WA. We went to a Mariners game, wore our matching jerseys, watched fireworks, and planned to have a nice dinner the second night we were there. I bought a new outfit for the occasion, I got my nails and hair done, I overpacked, the usual. Meanwhile, Joe was convinced I knew that he was going to propose. And like usual, I was completely oblivious and had no idea. Apparently every time we left the room he had to sneak the ring into the room safe without me knowing. The day he proposed we had breakfast and he gave me an envelope and told me to hold onto it until he told me I could open it. We went to Pike's Place market and got snacks, then headed back to the hotel. He took me down to the waterfront on the pier where the Seattle Ferris wheel is located. He told me we had to wait, because it wasn't time for his surprise yet. My feet were killing me, I was getting hangry, and it was starting to rain so I said we should go. He took me to the edge of the pier and said I could open my envelope. It was a letter he wrote me telling me how much he loved me and how he loves me more and more everyday, but it would be better if he could show me how much he loved me. Meanwhile, Joe had one of his photographer friends photograph the whole thing, and that's who we were waiting for. Then he got down on his knee and I forget the rest because I was looking at the ring and I was too surprised at the whole situation. After I said yes, we did an engagement shoot and went to our nice dinner. The rest is history.
