We invite you to come as you are but If you would like to match the vibe of the wedding we recommend funky garden attire. Cute sundresses, light suits, comfortable footwear and fun colours will all fit in nicely! Our wedding colours are pink and green if you would like to match our theme.
We are happy to offer you beer, wine and seltzers all for an extremely reasonable price. We will also be offering free wine service with dinner. However, it is a CASH BAR! So please, make sure to bring some actual physical cash! Note that there is no chip or swipe option! Anything non-alcoholic is on the house.
It is about a forty five minute drive north from downtown Ottawa.
There is an option to RSVP for a bus from Ottawa to the venue and back, please do so if you would like to drink and make it home. The location is rural, there is no bus or reliable taxi service. There will be a small cost associated with the bus, depending on how many people book.
We are not asking for gifts for our wedding, we have been building a home together for many years and do not require any more beautiful objects to put in it. However, if you would like to give us a cash gift towards our honeymoon, you can do so either at the event or through the Honeyfund link located in the Registry tab.
At this time, we ask that you do not bring a +1 to the event. We, of course, would love to meet your friends and significant others but ask that we do it on a day other than our wedding! If your partner did not receive and invitation, but you know both of us well, we probably made a mistake. So, please reach out to us if you have any questions!
With the exception of the kiddos in our families who will be involved in the wedding party, we ask that you leave you little ones at home.
We have elected not to book a hotel block for our wedding, you can choose to stay either in Wakefield or in Ottawa, at a price point that works for you. Staying in Wakefield will likely be more expensive, as there are less options. However, if you do stay in the village, you will have a much easier time getting back to your hotel at the end of the night. If you would like recommendations for accommodations, don't hesitate to ask!
There is transportation from the community center to the village available starting at midnight and ending at two thirty in the morning. If you are staying in the area, you we be able to take advantage of this, but please keep in mind that a maximum of four people can go in the car at one time, so you may have to wait if multiple groups decide to leave at the same time. Please be respectful of the young man who will be driving you by having your drop off location ready in your maps app. He is not a professional driver, just a friend of the family doing us a favour. Note that he is just making trips to the Wakefield area and cannot bring you as far as Chelsea, Hull or Ottawa.
There will be no plated dinner, though there will be lots of food! We will strive to have options available for everyone, including our gluten-free and vegetarian friends. That being said, if you have a severe allergy that you think we should know about, please let us know.
We are happy for you to take photos at our wedding reception, but ask that the ceremony be tech-free. Please leave you phones in your purse or pocket. Also, we, in desiring a limited online footprint, ask that you do not post that photos you take on social media.
You can email or text either John or Hailey.
