It's really quite simple. Moderately handsome boy (Jakob's words, not Hailey's) needed a date to senior prom. Insert #1 wingman Shae with a brilliant idea to review the Junior year yearbook to spark some idea of who was available. Destiny strikes, Hailey's cute face appears on the page. The girl in his kindergarten class, the girl he had a crush on in 7th grade strictly from her insane performance at the PE fitness test where they were partners (Hailey did the maximum amount of sit ups possible, but Jakob had to make sure he beat her in the mile run), the girl who sat right in front of him senior year in 4th period government class. The stars had aligned, but now comes the difficult part, a promposal. Do not forget this was still high school, Jakob obviously needed verbal confirmation Hailey would say yes prior to the promposal. Insert matchmaker (and Hailey's friend) Kimmy. As it was stated, fate was on Jakob's side and Kimmy was conveniently his seat partner in 5th period English class (Kimmy almost forgot to mention this potential promposal but luckily remembered and said something to Hailey in passing. Where would we be if Kimmy forgot?) Behind the scenes, Hailey had multiple promposal offers on the table. As with most of her problems, she went to the wisest person she knows, her mom (Susan). After the mentioned offer from Jakob (through Kimmy, of course), Hailey showed the same Junior year yearbook (lots of pressure on these yearbook photos) to Susan and showed her the eligible bachelors. Lots of important factors were taken into consideration including who would look best in instagram photos, who had the best hair, and who had the most dating potential. From the guidance of Susan, Jakob was the chosen one. Once the verbal confirmation from Hailey to Kimmy to Jakob was given, it was off to the races. A few days of coordination, a poster created, a Handel's graham central station+chocolate flavor ice cream purchase, one brave (and definitely nerve racking) promposal and voila. We have a match. Hailey definitely could HANDEL Jakob's whimsical but below average dance moves, for the record. Moving Forward. A great end to senior year, a summer after high school that made them feel like main characters in a movie, and off they went into the real world. Hailey to Cal Poly SLO and Jakob staying at home going to community college in Torrance (eventually transferring to Cal Poly Pomona because he is so smort). So started the long distance relationship. There were road trip visits, and obviously these two love birds tried to spend every minute during summers together. All said, long distance relationships are not easy on the heart and life sure is more difficult when you are living far away from the person you love. COVID hits. Obviously a terrible time for the world, and a groaner to talk about, but the silver lining for us was no more long distance. For the first time in a long time, the couple got to spend every minute with each other again. From new hobbies like baking, to binge watching TV shows, online school, and doing their best to walk Apollo (Hailey's dog) twice a day, they were thriving. Once the world re-opened, they both went back to school for the last year and made a vow to never do distance again after. And that is exactly what they did; Jakob and Hailey have now lived in Livermore for 4 years now and obnoxiously spend all of their time together. Hailey and Jakob will have been together for almost 10 years come their wedding day. And they can't wait for what's next!
