BBQ! We plan to have smoked meats such as brisket, ribs, chicken, and pulled pork (with the works to make barbeque sandwiches), along with sides such as potato salad, cole slaw, beans, rolls, etc. We of course will be serving cake along with other desserts like cookies, and later in the evening we will light a fire for s'mores!
While we do not have any specific attire requests, keep in mind that our wedding will be outdoors in May. It might be hot, and pray for no rain or storms on our big day! Just in case you are anything like me (Hailey), I like to keep with a theme when there is one. Our theme is western - break out those boots, pearl snaps, and cowboy hats! Also, our colors are purple and brown/tan. Though again, we do not have any attire requests, so wear whatever makes you feel good! We will just be happy to spend this occasion with our loved ones!
As most of you know, we recently bought a house and had a housewarming party. We have been incredibly blessed with all of the love and support of our family & friends, and in light of the housewarming we do not need any gifts and there will not be a wedding shower! As we prepare to embark on our new journey together, your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. However, if you would like to contribute to our special day, we have created a honeymoon fund instead of registering for traditional gifts. Your donation will help make our honeymoon unforgettable and create memories that will last a lifetime. To contribute, you can find Hailey on Paypal or bring cash to drop in the "honeymoon fund" jar at the wedding. Again, no gifts or contributions are necessary, and we thank you for your love and support. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
A lot of weddings have a "cocktail hour" which is a time after the ceremony but before dinner when guests have cocktails and mingle, while the wedding party gets their pictures taken. A "cocktail hour" did not really feel like us, but our wedding is at a lake so why not invite our guests to fish while we take pictures!? That is much more our style. So, bring your fishing gear. We suggest either catch & release, or bring your own ice chest if you would like to keep what you catch.
We understand that not all of our guests will want to join in on the "fishing hour." If you are staying for dinner and don't want to fish, we will have refreshments and music playing, and you can use this time to get to know other guests! (Also, it shouldn't actually be a full hour. This is just what it is called.)
