Jesse and Hailee have decided to take on Jesse's mothers last name. The name "Spek" holds a special place in their hearts and represents a legacy of love, resilience, and family. Jesse’s grandparents, Oma and Opa, shared a love story that began in the Netherlands during World War II, when their families were housed together. Years later they truly fell in love in the US, where they built a beautiful life and family together. We are choosing the Spek name to honor the strength, love, and connection it represents. Carrying on this name feels like carrying forward a piece of their legacy—and we’re proud to do so as we start our own chapter together. Spek also happens to mean "bacon" in dutch - and we just couldn't pass up that opportunity.
