It all started when Hailee moved to Rice Lake Wisconsin. Hailee was getting away from her hometown and knew a few people in Rice Lake. She ended up working at the Rice Lake Culver’s as she had background working at Culver’s in River Falls. after working at Culver’s for a month Hailee walked up in the middle of a conversation between her manager and the kitchen crew. The manager made her comment of how woman don’t receive flowers randomly, only on special occasions. Alex, who was in the kitchen, countered the manager and said “how often do you get a man flowers?” Hailee countered Alex and said, “I will buy you a flower just to prove that women buy men flowers.” Alex shook his head and they continued their shift. The next morning Hailee went to Kwik trip and bought Alex a flower. Hailee arrived early to put the flower on the break table with a note that said “told you so,” and when Alex arrived he shook his head and made the comment “now I need to buy you flowers.” Hailee said, “no, this was just to prove a point that women buy men flowers.” They continued their shift and later in the night Alex helped Hailee with her closing tasks and got to talking. It turns out they had met each other before briefly during a track meet in high school. Hailee remembered the boy sleeping under the Rice Lake tent after she went to meet a friend who went to that high school and Alex recalled Hailee falling on the last hurdle in her race. They left and went home for the night but Hailee realized that she was developing feelings for Alex. A couple weeks went by and people were making assumptions that they were dating, which Hailee voiced to Alex who responded by saying, “if you ignore them they’ll stop saying those things.” Hailee didn’t talk to Alex for the rest of the night. When she got home that night she discussed the situation with her roommate about how she originally thought the feelings were mutual but realized that they probably weren’t because of what he said. As she said that her phone buzzed and a notification from instagram popped up, “Alex Seboe wants to follow you.” Hailee accepted the follow request but didn’t follow back. She then got a Snapchat notification about another request for friendship from Alex. They began talking and getting to know each other over a couple days until Alex invited Hailee over to watch movies and talk following a “family game night” which was for culvers crew. They stayed up all night talking and laughing and budding a relationship. They did this for a couple more nights. But Alex had bad news, he wanted to move away from where he was and didn’t want a relationship due to it. Understandably Hailee was scared and hurt, the man she’d been falling for was going to leave. They continued to talk and grow closer spending days at work and nights learning about each others adventures and lives they’ve lived. Until it all culminated into the question, “what are we?” Alex could no longer deny he had fallen for Hailee and fallen hard. He told her she felt like home and that searching for somewhere else to go couldn’t bring this feeling out of him the way she did. Alex was going to stay in state. Three years later and 2 cats they still arrive home everyday despite how much they moved because home was a person, not a place.

We planned a photo shoot on October 11th, a Friday and for a whole week had the ring hidden away and she had no idea. It was awkward, but man was it a great day to say “Yes” with the waves crashing and the sun shining.
