Our story fits right into a Hallmark screenplay! I was a single mom working a full time job with full custody of my kids. I had zero time to date. A relationship was the last thing on my mind. I signed my son Evan up for his first season of basketball in the winter of 2018. He had been begging me to play basketball. Evan was put on Joel Dayton's team. After a few weeks of practice Joel noticed me. He also noticed I was single ;) He found me on facebook and asked me to be his friend but we never really spoke to each other. After that we found out our daughters were in the same class at school and spoke for a brief second after the girls had their Christmas program at school. I was very short in this conversation with Joel and felt bad that I was rude. I was in a hurry to leave the crowded classroom after the program. I sent Joel a message apologizing for my shortness. Little did I know this opened the gate for communication. Joel took that and ran with it! He started messaging me often to get to know me as a person. I was clear to Joel I didn't want anything more than a friendship but because our kids were the same age I said we could hang out for the kids to have play dates. Joel is smart and saw this as his opening. He came over with his daughter Rylee one evening to play with Logan and I invited them to stay and eat dinner. I'm pretty sure he never left after that! We hung out every day from that day on. We became official on Christmas day of 2018 and Engaged to be married on Christmas Eve of 2019. I love our story of Mom marrying The Coach!
